The FIM Motorcross World Championship.

The premier championship of motocross racing.

From 19—21 September 2025, the world’s greatest riders, teams and bikes will descend on the Top End of Australia to put on one of the greatest shows in the motorsport calendar: MXGP of Australia. Immerse yourself in the full-throttle action and get up close to legendary racing heroes and machines.

The event, hosted by Northern Territory Major Events Company, will take place on a purpose-built track at Hidden Valley Motorsports Complex in Darwin and be broadcast to over 100 countries. The soon to be built, custom-designed track promises exceptional spectator areas to watch the world's top motocross riders.

Australian riders will be competing in all 3 international classes, MXGP, MX2 and WMX.

In addition to those who make it to the world championship there will be ‘wildcard’ rider entries selected by Motorcycling Australia (up to 10 in each class).

National supporting classes will be announced shortly.

Event Format.

Day 1 - Friday 19 sept

Friday kicks off the weekend with a thrilling start as the riders get a feel for the track during Free and Timed Practice sessions across the yet to be announced Australian support classes. The day wraps up with vital Start Practices for MXGP, MX2, and WMX, giving fans an early look at some of the weekend's biggest stars in action.

Day 2 - Saturday 20 Sept

Saturday is a jam-packed day full of high-octane action, starting with final races in the Australian MX categories before moving into the international spotlight. The WMX, MX2, and MXGP classes take to the track for Free and Time Practice sessions, building up to the thrilling Qualifying Races later in the day, setting the stage for Sunday's main events.

Day 3 - Sunday 21 Sept

Sunday is the pinnacle of the weekend, offering non-stop racing action that will have fans on the edge of their seats. The day starts with warm-up laps before the championship heats begin. Watch as the WMX riders battle it out in their final race, followed by the highly anticipated MX2 and MXGP races, each delivering two intense rounds of action-packed competition. With 30 minutes plus 2 laps per race, Sunday will determine who stands on top of the podium at this unforgettable event in Darwin.
